Nicole Mauro Heads to National Championship Meet

Nicole Mauro Advances to NCAA Division III National Championships

WATERFORD, Conn. -- Senior Nicole Mauro (Mashpee, MA) will be representing Bridgewater State College at the 2007 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship race hosted next Saturday by St. Olaf College in Minnesota. Mauro placed 12^th at the Division III New England Championship meet held at Connecticut College this afternoon.

Mauro earned the national berth by finishing among the top seven runners at the regional who were not associated with teams that qualified. Amherst College and Williams College finished one and two in the team standings and earned the automatic qualification.

Mauro, who completed the six kilometer course in a time of 22:09.9, also garnered All-New England honors for her 12^th place finish.

As a team, the Bears placed 21^st overall. Amherst won the regional title with 40 points while Williams was next with 96. Senior Jennifer Adams of Keene State College was the individual champion with a time of 21:20.1.
