Kelsey Collasius Named MASCAC Volleyball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season and sixth time in her career, Bridgewater State College senior middle hitter Kelsey Collasius has been selected as the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Player of the Week.  Collasius registered 63 kills and 23 blocks in five matches last week for the Bears.

A Rochester, Massachusetts native, Collasius tallied 63 kills and 23 blocks in five matches last week for the Bears. She notched 16 kills and an impressive 10 blocks in Bridgewater's 3-2 win over Framingham State, which increased the Bears' 13-year winning streak versus MASCAC opponents to an amazing 111 matches.

Collasius currently leads the Bears and the MASCAC in kills (188), kills per game (3.69), hitting percentage (.319), blocks (78) and blocks per game (1.53) this season. Last year she shattered the Bears' single-season mark for kills as she finished with 597 to go along with a team-leading 187 blocks (101 solo).  The old mark of 503 kills was set by Prokopas in 2002.  Collasius averaged 5.10 kills per game which placed her 13th in all of Division III. She also ranked 11th in the nation in blocks per game with 1.60, and was 18th overall with a .371 hitting percentage.

The reigning MASCAC Player of the Year, Collasius is third all-time at BSC in kills with 1,391 and is among BSC's career leaders in blocks with 556.  Along with her Player of the Year selection, she was also named to the All-MASCAC Team for the third straight season and was selected to the New England Women's Volleyball Association All-New England Second Team.
