Results

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. --- Three Bridgewater State College track and field athletes will represent head coach TJ Smith's squad at the ECAC Division III Championships on this Friday and Saturday at Harvard University. The meet is the last chance for the athletes to qualify for the NCAA Championships at Ohio Northern next week.

Senior distance runner Nicole Mauro (Medfield, MA) qualified for the 3000 and 5000 meter runs, but she will only compete in the 5k. Senior Fernando Vieira (Mattapoisett, MA) will also go for the gold in the 500 meter dash. Junior middle distance runner Tim Barrow (Woburn, MA) was eligible to run in the one-mile and 800 meter runs, but has decided to rest his legs for the outdoor season.

Last week Mauro posted a time of 17:56.42 at the New England All-Divisions meet which was almost 13 seconds off qualifying for the NCAA Provisional time of 17:42.50. Mauro was the only member of the team that qualified for the meet at Boston University. For the third time this season Mauro has broken her own mark in the 5k which was previously 18:10.45 and became the first women to break the 18 minute barrier in BSC women's indoor track history.
