Indoor Track & Field Athletes Garner All-Alliance Honors
GORHAM, ME --- Junior Tim Barrow (Woburn, MA) and senior Nicole Mauro (Medway, MA) led the way for the men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams as six males and four females received All-New England Alliance Honors at the New England Alliance meet which was held on February 16. The top eight finishers in each event were named to the All-Alliance Team.
Mauro placed first in the 3000 meter run and fourth in the
one-mile run while Barrow took home a top finish in the 800 meter
run. Mauro along with freshmen Jessica Eidinger
(Sutton, MA), Carissa Penney (Gardner, MA), and
Amanda Hauswirth (Mathuen, MA) took home a third
place finish in the 4 x 800 meter relay.
Junior Jason Williams (Bradford, MA) placed third
in the weight throw while classmate Chris Clark
(Pittsfield, MA) threw a third place finish in the shot put. Senior
Fernando Vieira (Mattapoiset, MA) ran to a fifth
place finish in the 55 meter dash and seventh in the 400. Senior
Nilton Gomes (Fall River, MA) also jumped to
finish seventh in the triple jump.
Gomes, Vieira, Barrow, and freshman Chris
Dagistino (Littleton, MA) combined capped off the
men’s Alliance team with a sixth place finish in the 4x400
relay.
The men finished the meet in eighth place with 33 points while
Keene State was the meet winner with 140 points. The ladies also
took home eighth and scored 26 points while Little East foe
Southern Maine won the competition with 196 points.
