Mauro, Barrow Head All-MASCAC Honor Roll for Indoor Track
GORHAM, ME --- Eleven men’s indoor track and field members
and eight women’s have been selected to the All-MASCAC team.
The top 6 finishers in each event were garnered with all-league
honors.
For the men, junior distance runner Tim Barrow
(Woburn, MA) placed first in the 800 meter run while senior
Fernando Vieira (Mattapoisett, MA) took home
fourth in the 55-meter dash, third in the 400, and sixth in the
200. Freshman Dan Slyne (Holliston, MA) finished
fifth in the 1000 meter run while senior Nilton
Gomes (Fall River, MA) took the fourth spot in the
400.
In the field, junior Jason Williams (Bradford, MA)
threw a second place finish in the weight throw while classmate
Chris Clark (Pittsfield, MA) finished third in the
shot put. Gomes jumped to a third place finish in the triple jump
while sophomore Sammie Ervan (Carver, MA) placed
sixth in the long jump.
The Bears 4x400 relay team of Gomes, Barrow, Viera, and freshman
Chris Dagistino (Littleton, MA) placed third while
the 4x800 team of Slyne, freshman Michael Caseley
(Abington, MA), junior Brian Stewart (Scituate,
MA), and Avery Bouchard (Fall River, MA) crossed
the line in fifth.
Senior distance runner Nicole Mauro (Medfield, MA)
led the way for the women with a gold finishes in the 1000 meter
run and the mile run. Mauro also helped out along with freshmen
Jessica Eidinger (Sutton, MA), Carissa
Penney (Gardner, MA), and Amanda
Hauswirth (Mathuen, MA) to place first in the 4 x 800
relay. Penney took home the top spot in the 1000 meter run while
Eidinger finished second in the 800 meter run.
In the field for the ladies, freshman Brittany
Paige (Winthrop, MA) threw a placed fourth in both the
shot put and the weight throw for Bridgewater State while classmate
Louise Cornerford (Billerica, MA) wrapped up the
honors for the ladies with her fifth place finish in the 400 and
Rebeccah Chase (Northfield, NH) crossed the line
in sixth in the 3000.
The men’s team finished the competition with 56 points which
was good for fifth place while Westfield State was the winner with
181 points. The women finished in fourth place with 69 points while
the Owls also took home the top spot with 240 points.
