Three Womens Tennis Athletes Named to Little East All-Academic Team

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. --- Three Bridgewater
State College women’s tennis teammates have been selected to
the Little East’s Conferences inaugural All-Academic Team for
the 2007 fall season. BSC was tied for the second most athletes
with Plymouth State while UMass Dartmouth and Salem State had with
the most with four.
Sophomore’s Ashley DeMello (Berkley,
MA/Psychology major) and Jenna Milo (East
Longmeadow, MA/Elementary Education) and junior Angela
Shanks (Brockton, MA/English) were tabbed for honors on
the team.
The women’s tennis team finished the season with a record of
7-2 and a 6-1 mark in the Little East. The Bears captured the 2007
conference tournament title for the first time in the programs
history. BSC finished the regular season as co-champions with Rhode
Island College and UMass Darmouth.
Honorees have made the All-Academic team based on the following
criteria: at least a sophomore academic and athletic standing, and
a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.2.
The conference office has honored student-athletes in the
following seven sponsored sports: field hockey, men’s and
women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer,
women’s tennis and women’s volleyball.
The BSC women’s tennis team will compete at the NCAA
Division III Women’s Tennis Championships held on the weekend
of May 2nd thru May 4th at a site that will be determined.
