BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Bridgewater State College junior guard Brittney Chappron has been selected to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for the week ending January 24th.

A native of Braintree, Massachusetts, Chappron averaged 23.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in a 2-0 week for the Bears last week while shooting 71% (17-for-24) from the field, 70% (7-for-10) from three-point range and 86% (6-for-7) at the free throw line.

Chappron tallied 13 points on 6 of 8 shooting in BSC's 71-52 win on the road versus Worcester State, and then poured in a career-high 34 points while knocking down a program record seven three-pointers in an 83-69 victory over Salem State.  She connected on 11 of 16 field goal attempts in the win over Salem, including 7-of-9 from 3-point land, and converted all five of her free throws. Chappron's 34 points was one shy of the school single-game mark of 35 set by Catie Furtado against Pine Manor College in 2006.

Through 17 games this season (which includes Tuesday night's win at MCLA) Chappron is averaging 15.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game.  She is shooting 47% (97-for-206) from the field, 35% (35-for-101) from behind the arc and 80% (28-for-35) at the line.  Chappron currently ranks second in the MASCAC in scoring and made three-pointers, sixth in three-point shooting percentage and eighth in field goal percentage.

The Bridgewater State women's basketball team is undefeated in MASCAC play on the season as they sit alone atop the conference standings.  The Bears, winners of seven straight games, are 10-7 overall and 6-0 in the conference.  Bridgewater will look to make it eight straight wins on Saturday afternoon when the Bears host MASCAC rival Westfield State College at 1:00 PM.

In 42 games over two seasons with the Bears, Chappron has scored 498 points for an average of 11.9 points per game.  She is also a career 73% shooter (70-for-96) at the free throw line and has knocked down 64 of 196 (33%) three-point field goal attempts.
