2009 ECAC Division III New England Softball All-Star Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College senior center fielder Allie LeBlanc and sophomore left fielder Tracey Sanko have been named to the 2009 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Softball All-Star Team.

LeBlanc, a first team selection, batted .475 on the season with five home runs, 13 doubles, 38 runs scored and 47 RBI.  She also posted a .705 slugging percentage and a .522 on base percentage.  LeBlanc's .475 batting average was the third highest in team history.

The Somerset, Massachusetts native led the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in batting, home runs, doubles, hits (58), runs batted in, total bases (86) and slugging percentage.  She also finished second in on base percentage and tied for second along with Sanko in runs scored.

LeBlanc finds her way on to the ECAC All-Star Team for the third straight season as she was a first team selection in 2007 and a second team selection in 2008.

A second team all-star, Sanko batted .424 on the season with three home runs, 38 runs scored and 35 stolen bases.  She also posted a .515 slugging percentage and a .472 on base percentage.  Sanko set the BSC single-season record with her 35 stolen bases as she broke Kristy Wilbur's previous mark of 27 set back in 1997.

The Windsor, Connecticut native led the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in stolen bases and ranked second in hits with 56.  She also finished third in total bases (68), fourth in batting and on base percentage, and tied for fourth in home runs.

LeBlanc and Sanko helped BSC (28-11) capture a share of the MASCAC regular season title as the team went 10-2 in conference play.  The softball team has now won or shared 14 consecutive MASCAC regular season titles. Seeded second at the MASCAC Tournament, the Bears went on to capture the tournament title for the seventh time in the nine-year history of the event.

The Bears also made the program's 20th appearance in the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament and tenth in the last 12 years.

In four seasons at Bridgewater, LeBlanc batted .390 with 12 home runs, 41 doubles, 109 runs scored and 125 RBI. She ranks third all-time at BSC in batting, at bats (502) and singles (142).  She also holds the school record for longest hitting streak as she fashioned together a 26-game streak during her sophomore season of 2007.

In two seasons at Bridgewater, Sanko is batting .378 with 3 home runs, 68 runs scored, 24 RBI and 45 stolen bases. She already ranks fourth all-time at BSC with her 45 thefts.  Former softball standout and current assistant coach, Angela Vecchione, holds the Bears' career stolen base mark with 60.
