Allie LeBlanc Named to NFCA All-New England Third

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College junior center fielder Allie LeBlanc has been named to the 2008 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-New England Third Team.
In 39 games this season LeBlanc is batting .434 (46-for-106) with three home runs, ten doubles, 26 runs scored and 35 RBI. She is currently posting a .632 slugging percentage and a .488 on base percentage.
LeBlanc ranks second in the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in RBI, slugging percentage and total bases (67). She is also tied for second in home runs and sacrifice flies (3), third in batting and on base percentage, tied for third in doubles, tied for fourth in hits, tied for seventh in walks (12) and tied for eighth in runs scored.
LeBlanc helped BSC go undefeated in MASCAC play as the Bears posted a perfect 14-0 mark against conference teams during the regular season. The softball team has now won 13 consecutive MASCAC regular season titles.
The Somerset, Massachusetts native also came up with clutch hit after clutch hit to lead Bridgewater State to the MASCAC Tournament title, the Bears' sixth in the eight-year history of the event. She batted .444 (4 for 9) in the Bears' tournament title run with two home runs, a double, three runs scored and nine runs batted in.
LeBlanc blasted a three-run home run in Bridgewater State's 4-2 win over Framingham State in the tournament opener. She then belted a three-run double in the Bears' 4-0 shutout of Westfield State.
LeBlanc capped off her stellar MASCAC Tournament performances by hitting a two-run home run and adding a RBI single in the Bears' championship game win over Westfield State. LeBlanc's two-run dinger in the third inning erased an early 1-0 deficit.
The Bears will be making the program's 19th appearance in the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament and ninth appearance in the last eleven years. BSC is seeded sixth at the seven-team New England Regional hosted by Rhode Island College. The Bears (26-15) will take on third seeded Saint Joseph's College of Long Island (30-6) on Thursday at noon.
