Gomes Leads Men at Division III New England Regionals
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. --- Senior Nilton
Gomes (Fall River, MA) took home the Bridgewater State
Men’s Outdoor Track and Field team’s highest finish
with ninth place in the 400 meter dash (:50.82) at the Division III
New England Regional’s this past weekend.
The meet hosted by Coast Guard was won by Williams who scored 151
points while MIT (92) and Coast Guard (87) tallied second and
third, respectively. The Bears did not finish with any points.
The men’s 4 x 400 relay team of Gomes, junior
Fernando Vieira (Mattapoiset, MA) and freshmen
classmates Christopher Dagistino (Littleton, MA)
and Michael Caseley (Abington, MA) crossed the
line in 11th with a time of 3.29.88.
In the field, senior Chris Clark (Pittsfield, MA)
threw a 15th place finish in the shot put (41-10.75) while junior
Jason Williams (Bradford, MA) tossed 20th in the
hammer throw (128-01).
Junior distance runner Avery Bouchard (Fall
River, MA) also registered 21st in the 10,000 with a time of
33:00.84.
Clark and Gomes will compete in two weeks at the All-New England
ECAC's which will be hosted by Springfield.
