Gomes (Fall River, MA) jumped to a second place finish in
the triple jump (13.03m) and freshman Michael
Casely (Abington, MA) took the top spot in the long jump
(6.21) to help out the Bridgewater State men’s outdoor track
team as the Bears continued their season at the Springfield
Invitational this past Saturday.
The non-scoring meet included Westfield, Worcester, Keene and
Eastern Connecticut State, all of whom BSC will see this Saturday
at the New England Alliance meet hosted by Rhode Island
College.
Junior Tim Barrow (Woburn, MA) took home a
seventh place finish in the 400 meter dash (:52.12) while classmate
Avery Bouchard (Fall River, MA) ran sixth in the
1,500 (4:23.85). Bouchard also notched 14th in the 800 (2:11.56)

the 1,500 (5:00.25).
In the field, senior Chris Clark led the way
tossing a second place throw in the shot put (13.66) and fourth in
the discus (38.44). Junior Jason Williams
(Bradford, MA) registered fifth in the hammer throw (43.44) while
sophomore Matthew Marden (Wilmington, MA) finished
fifth in the javelin (43.98) and 15th in the shot put (10.54).

11th in the javelin (37.98).
In relay action, the men’s 4 x 400 relay team placed second
with a time of 3:32.43.
Gomes’s jump in the triple and Clark’s throw in the
shot put were each good enough to qualify for the New England
Division III meet in two weeks at Coast Guard. To date Gomes has
also punched his ticket to the meet in the 400 meter dash along
with Bouchard, who qualified for the 10,000 last week at the
Solomon Invitational.
Bridgewater State will be back in action on Saturday when they
travel to Rhode Island College for the New England Alliance and the
MASCAC Championships. The meet will begin at noon.
