Men Compete at Husky Open to Begin Outdoor Season
BOSTON, Mass. --- Senior sprinter
Nilton Gomes (Fall River, MA) led the Bears with a
third place finish (:51.15) in the 400 meter dash as the
Bridgewater State College men’s track and field team began
its outdoor season at the Husky Spring Open this past Saturday. The
non-scoring meet held at Solomon Track in Dedham featured athletes
from around New England in all collegiate divisions along with
other participating track clubs.
Gomes also took home 12th (:11.99) in the 100 meter dash while
freshman Michael Casely (Abington, MA) placed
tenth (:24:35) in the 200 and sixth in the triple jump. Sophomore
Sammie Ervan (Carver, MA) jumped to an 11th
(18-01.00) place finish in the long jump while junior Chris
Clark (Pittsfield, MA) placed eighth (41-10.75) in the
shot put. Jason Williams (Bradford, MA) also
finished 12th (132 ft) in the hammer throw.
In relay action, the Bridgewater State 4 x 400 A team finished
first with a time of 3:43.07.
The Bears will revisit Boston on Saturday when they will compete
in the Tufts Invitational at Noon.
