Our Academic Excellence
Bridgewater offers 30 majors along with 10 graduate and doctoral programs to its 9,500 students. Unfortunately our reputation does not match up to the scholastic reality of Bridgewater's requirements of its applicants. Our admission standards are so competitive that in 2006 there were about 7,100 applicants for a class of 1,399.
We are not trying to portray Bridgewater as an exclusive university on the same level with the Ivy League schools, but we are saying that the education you receive here is as good, and in many cases better, than many colleges that have elitist reputations.
The table below shows an academic comparison between a sampling of schools from around New England. All facts were taken from http://www.review.com/ (maintained by The Princeton Review) and/or each school's own website (data is from the December of 2007), and reflect the average SAT score of the freshman class. Now SAT score is not the only means of judging the quality of a college's academics, but it is one objective criterion that everybody can identify with.
