Criminal Justice

The Criminal Justice program here at Bridgewater provides students with a solid background in criminal justice and criminology, enabling them to gain a broad understanding of crime and the criminal justice system.  The curriculum stresses the development of skills increasingly needed by criminal justice professionals, including critical thinking, communication skills, the ability to conceptualize ideas, and the ability to understand criminal justice data.

Officially established as a major in 2001, Criminal Justice is one of the fastest rising programs at the College.  In its first three years the program grew to 1200 students and 27 faculty members.  That is clear evidence of the commitment the College and the students have made to this course of study.  Further evidence of the commitment Bridgewater has made to this major is the development of the combined Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree.  With only one additional year of study, a student can earn both their bachelor's degree and their master's degree in Criminal Justice.  Students wishing to pursue this can apply during their Junior year.
