Ashley Panzini Named MASCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College senior forward Ashley Panzini has been named the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Field Hockey Player of the Week as she helped lead the Bears to a pair of MASCAC and Little East Conference wins last week over Salem State and Worcester State.
A Saugus, Massachusetts native, Panzini netted three goals (two of which were game winners) in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears. She notched the game-winning goal in overtime as BSC defeated MASCAC and Little East Conference foe Salem State, 1-0, up in Salem. She then tallied a pair of goals, including the game-winner, as the Bears shutout MASCAC and Little East rival Worcester State, 3-0.
With the two wins, Bridgewater improved to 6-2 on the season and 3-2 in the Little East standings. The last time that the BSC field hockey team opened the season with six wins in their first eight games was in 1995.
On the season, Panzini has 4 goals and 2 assists to her credit for a total of 10 points. Of her four goals this season, impressively enough three have been game-winners. In 58 games over the last four seasons, Panzini has registered 16 goals and 13 assists for 45 points.
