Vi Goodnow



Vi has been an outstanding coach/physical education instructor at Frontier Regional High School for the past thirty years. During her tenure there, she has coached field hockey (1958-present), girls' basketball (1958-present) and softball (1958-71). During that time her teams have won numerous league and state championships.

Ms. Goodnow also has been honored with numerous awards for both her coaching and teaching excellence. In particular, she was named District I Girls' Basketball "Coach of the Year" by the National High School Coaches Association in 1980. In recognition of her work the top female basketball player in Western Massachusetts now receives the "Vi Goodnow Award". The gymnasium at Frontier Regional High School was renamed the "Goodnow Gymnasium" in June of 1998. In 1988 Vi also received the Dr. Catherine E. Comeau Award for outstanding leadership and professional achievement. Besides her work at Frontier Regional H.S., Vi has been involved in numerous sports camps and tournaments around the New England area.

Vi retired in 2002 and lives in Shelburne Falls, MA.
