Ray is BSC's third all-time leading scorer in men's basketball with 1636 points. A four-year starter for the Bears (1956-60), Ray was named to the Southern New England Coastal Conference All Star team (3yrs), and to the New England State Teacher's Conference All Star team (2yrs). His game-high 39 points vs. Salem State College stood for almost 20 years on the BSC record books. His career total points was first for 33 years until it was broken in 1993.

Ray was also an outstanding baseball catcher. A three-year starter at Bridgewater, Ray also played in the Cape Cod League and received a tryout with the then Kansas City Athletics. Ray now resides in his hometown of Fall River, MA.
