Policies

General Use

  • Day Passes - An individual who possesses a valid BSC Connect Card and wishes to use the Fitness Center may purchase a Day Pass for $5. Payment is accepted in cash, check, money order or Connect Card Flex points.
  • Guest Policy - A member may sponsor one or two guests per visit for a fee of $5 each and must accompany the guest at all times. Guests must be 18 or older and have proper ID.
  • Proper Attire - All patrons must wear proper attire. Non-marking athletic shoes must be worn at all times. Pants with large zippers, jeans, work boots, open-toed shoes or sandals are not allowed in activity areas. Please do not wear outdoor shoes into the fitness center.
  • Food and Drink - Only non-breakable, leak-proof plastic bottles containing water are allowed inside the fitness center. Other drinks, containers, food or candy are not permitted.

Weight Training Policies

  • Maintain control of your weights at all times. Dumbbells, plates, and bars man not be dropped, thrown, or slammed to the floor under any circumstances.
  • Return all weights to the appropriate storage racks immediately after use. Do not leave weight plates on bars or equipment
  • Be aware of neighboring lifters or anyone near your workout space. Allow adequate free-space around bar ends and exercise benches or machines.
  • Safety collars must be used on all free weight bars regardless of the exercise, the load, or the presence of spotters.
  • Return all safety collars to the appropriate place.
  • Lifters are to use a spotter (2 if necessary) whenever an exercise involves moving the bar above the head, over the chest, or whenever racked on the back of the shoulders.
  • Lifters should provide spotters with both general and specific instructions concerning each set.
  • Do not stand or place weights on benches.
  • Benches moved to other areas or to the Smith machines are to be returned to the dumbbell area.
